June 7th we will be releasing a very limited quantity of our "Young Lords Party" Classic T Original. This design is one of the two designs we are coming out with to celebrate and honor our Boricua brothers and Sisters during the National Puerto Rican Day Parade festivities around the country.
The Chicago Young Lords, founders of this Latino movement, were the sons and daughters of the first Puerto Rican immigrants. They successfully built a national grassroots movement for self-determination within the Barrios of the United States. It all began when Mayor Richard J.Daley decided to create an inner city suburb in Lincoln Park and, in the process, displaced the entire neighborhood of the first Puerto Ricans.
Jose (Cha-Cha) Jimenez was one of seven founders of the Young Lords street gang and the founder of the Young Lords reorganizing them as a national civil and human rights movement on Grito de Lares, September 23, 1968. The new community wide movement then spread to nearly 30 cities including three branches in New York and one in Bridgeport, CT.
Thanks to the Young Lords many of their efforts pushed and birthed programs to help the people and community that still exist today.
Que Viva Puerto Rico!!!
